A Bright-lit And Cosy Sanctuary Designed For Family Living

A clean base of earthy tones with pops of greenery flows through the Modern Colonial interior design of this stunning family dwelling. Reflecting a classic allure, the abode boasts a curated concoction of cosy furnishings and elegant marble-grained surfaces, contrasted by walnut wood textures. The open floor plan of the communal area emanates a bright and airy atmosphere throughout the space, illuminating the charming details of the contemporary fixtures and textures. At the heart of the home, the kitchen island cum bar counter anchors the space flawlessly, highlighting a perfect balance between light and dark accent colours. Monochrome patterned floor tiles of the kitchen creates a segregation between spaces, a common sight in Colonial interiors, displaying a bold yet appealing contrast against the pristine white cabinetry. Taking on a minimalistic approach, the bathroom interiors are kept clean and simple to maintain consistency with the design theme. Delicate shades of muted colours and soft textiles bring an incredible sense of blissful comfort and serenity in the master bedroom.

Interior Designer's Thoughts

As a family with two young children, the homeowners were keen on having an open plan concept as it cultivates family activities to take place on a day-to-day basis. One of the key aspects of the design brief was to have ample storage space and a sense of spaciousness especially in the communal area for their kids to play freely. To achieve this, the interior designer suggested hacking down the original kitchen walls to open up the space and allow a significant amount of daylight to enter. This enhances the home with a refreshing and brightly-lit atmosphere that blends together with the rest of the furnishings and decor. The interior designer also suggested building a partition wall at the entryway to accommodate a built-in shoe rack and a recessed arch niche with a one seater bench. To reflect Colonial elements into the space, monochrome patterned tiles and scattered potted plants create a vibrant contrast to the overall clean base colour.
