Interior Designer’s Thoughts

The homeowners were keen on having a Farmhouse design that also showcases their own uniqueness. The main design brief consists of bright colours and opening up some parts of the home to allow more spaciousness. To achieve this, the original walls of the living room and kitchen were hacked to create a bigger space and allow sunlight to enter. As they often host gatherings with family and friends, the full height bar counter was proposed to easily accommodate their guests. Countering storage solutions, the interior designer suggested installing built-in cabinets enjoined with a bench to maximise the space. Organic textiles such as rattan, linen and soft furnishings were added to create a sense of cosiness and homely environment. A consistent theme of patterned floor tiles in the kitchen and bathroom were proposed to create a bold contrast against the neutral farmhouse colour scheme.
