This capacious abode reimagines Modern French design through a deeply personal lens, where refined European elegance is gently interwoven with cultural nuances shaped by the homeowners’ Vietnamese heritage. Light filters softly across wainscotting and natural textures, setting a calm and nostalgic tone that feels both composed and welcoming. Upon entry, the rattan-arched carpentry sets the tone of the home with its warm and bright palette. The open concept kitchen is anchored by a central peninsula with thoughtful zoning that keeps cooking, preparation, and appliances intuitively organised.
At the heart of the home, a free-standing island serves as both a dry pantry and bar counter. The communal area opens up to a balcony dining area, extending the space outward where natural light and greenery seamlessly bridge indoor and outdoor elements. The master bedroom retreats into a gentler rhythm. Curved rattan wardrobes, tailored joinery and integrated storage adds a tad of softness to the space. Calm and uncluttered, the home settles into a sense of quiet permanence — timeless in its expression, sentimental and reflective of the lives it holds.
The homeowners were keen on having a modern French design theme that caters to their lifestyle, as they often cook and host gatherings with family and friends. The key areas of the home were thoughtfully designed such that it can accommodate their day-to-day activities yet feel ease of flow and movement. Having a pet cat, it also makes it comfortable for the cat to lounge and roam around. The original kitchen was fully enclosed, so the first move was to open it up and visually expand the space. A bar counter was introduced to add storage while functioning as a flexible dry area when needed. The dining area was intentionally placed at the balcony, as the homeowners frequently host gatherings and enjoy board games, making better use of this generous alfresco space.
Storage was a key consideration throughout, particularly in the master bedroom, which required reconfiguration to accommodate a larger wardrobe while maintaining spatial flow. Functional details were carefully planned: a well-zoned kitchen layout for efficiency, and a custom dry pantry with arched detailing and sintered stone finishes. In the master bedroom, curved forms and rattan detailing were softened for durability, paired with integrated storage solutions and a built-in bedhead to maximise space without compromising comfort.
